Celebrating Motherhood: The Heartfelt Collaboration Behind ‘Mama Wam’ – Lyric Video out now
The emotive track ‘Mama Wam’ brings together the songwriting talents of Philip Myburgh and the powerful vocals of Fancy Galada, accompanied by the skillful production of Johnny Blundell. This touching song is taken from the Dance Of The Footnote project and is a heartfelt tribute to the mothers who shaped their lives.
Philip Myburgh penned the lyrics of ‘Mama Wam’ in memory of his late mother, who passed away on the 9th of April, 2019. “She was a loving and deeply religious woman who fully embraced her role as a mother,” says Myburgh. The song’s lyrics honor the impact and love she left behind, a legacy Myburgh felt compelled to capture in song after her passing.
Myburgh knew, after working with Fancy Galada and Johnny Blundell on the 2023 single ‘Sinani,’ that the trio would be the perfect team to collaborate on ‘Mama Wam.’ What unfolded in Johnny’s studio was an unforgettable creative journey that further deepened their shared connection. As the song came to life, they discovered a mutual love and admiration for their own mothers. The final moments of the recording session were filled with emotion, as Fancy Galada poured her own memories and grief for her mother, who passed away years ago, into the vocals.
The result is a song that is not only personal to the artists but resonates with anyone who has experienced the love and loss of a mother. “We hope that our remembering will honor all the mothers out there, those who are still with us, and those who have departed,” shares Myburgh.
‘Mama Wam’ is now available for streaming, with a poignant lyric video that allows listeners to reflect on the profound connections between mothers and their children.
