London based, South African alternative singer songwriter, Giulio Beltramo, declares a bid of gratitude, energy and optimism in his latest single “Queens and Kings”, the closing track of Giulio’s brand new EP, “The Whole Half Story”.

From the outset Giulio Beltramo has been influenced strongly by the alternative music genre, in its allowance of expressive lyrics and more explorative melodic and harmonic composition, coupled with his classical music background and fascination in the arts, Giulio presents a multifaceted body of authentically unique music. Giulio has been steadily growing his audience and fan base, and sits eagerly on the cusp of the release of his fourth body of work. Giulio Beltramo’s debut EP The Whole Half Story.

The Story Behind Queens and Kings – A song written for all the women in my life, the ones who raised me, and quite literally taught me everything I know.

Queens and Kings was inspired primarily by my closest Lauren. We met at the beginning of our first year of university in drama class and blossomed a friendship like no other. At the time I had just come from an all boys boarding school, I was dealing with the loss of my father, my sexuality, navigating the world and new city I lived in, and she made it all so easy for me. She held my hand and guided me through every step of the way.

She has this incredible apartment overlooking Bree Street in the centre of Cape Town, with this iconic wide-legged French slide window. This window and window ledge was our therapy chair, our bar, our church, our songwriting heaven, a place where we challenged each other, cried, laughed, absolutely everything you can think of…And it may sound cliche but that space truly made me who I am.

She, and all the other women in my life have shaped the person I have become. I am so lucky to be surrounded by such incredible people in my life.
