Nianell releases haunting new single ‘Blouwyn’ – the theme song to the new Afrikaans coming of age comedy/drama film ‘Blouwyn’
Nianell is back with a haunting and powerful theme song for the local South African movie Blouwyn.
Blouwyn is an Afrikaans Romantic comedy-drama (English subtitles) set against the beautiful backdrop of the quaint town of Philadelphia in the beautiful Western Cape, South Africa. Directed by Johnny Taute and featuring the lead actors Liza Du Toit who plays Sonja Poerstamper and Renier Weideman who plays Lukas Winterbach – Blouwyn is a slice of life and coming of age drama-comedy that follows the lives of three unrelated couples brought together by a random decision.
The theme song, Blouwyn, is composed and performed by the multi-talented Nianell and is available on all digital platforms. The lyrics stem from a poem in the film written by Johnny Taute.
The film uses situational comedy, to break the tension, which allows the audience to catch their breath. The film dares to visually explore traumatic scars left by cancer and abuse within relationships and how these scars shape the reality of the characters.
Blouwyn is not your typical “boy meets girl” movie. It is a journey through the presets of life!
