South African born, USA bred Xhosa singer, songwriter, composer and organist Peter Ngqibs is on a musical roll and focusing on releasing numerous singles to add to his portfolio, following the success of his debut album.

After 9 is his second solo single release since the release of his debut album Let Me Go – The 13-track album featured the melodic, uplifting and inspiring first single ‘Broken’, which hurtled its way up the Official Pop and Club UK Music Week Charts to #30.

Although based in the States, Peter still calls South Africa home.

The Music Video for After 9 shows a more provocative and sexy side to Peter.

“I had been toying with the idea of the song After 9 for about two years now after having had a conversation with my sister about my dating life, or lack thereof. During this chat, I told her about the many married and straight men who often hit on me. I shared that they’re called DL guys – they’re on the down low. She told me that they’re also known as “after nines.” It was a term I’d never heard before and it made sense. One night I received a text from one DL guy and that’s when I started writing it. I produced the beat and added it to the list of songs I needed to record at my next session. I loved having these two straight male engineers at Redbird Studios in New York City as I recorded all of that – moans, finger sucks, and all.

The video was shot in Queens in New York on June 14th. It was choreographed by Vivake Khamsingsavath (Vive danced in my First video, Over Again) and co-directed by him, myself, and Matthew Salamone of Thought Product. Make up and hair is by Jonathan Wu. Omar Roman is the second sexy dancer I almost make out with in the video.

I wanted this video to be sexy and fun; dripping with innuendos and sometimes not so subtle images. Vive and Omar are so damned gorgeous and talented – it was exciting having them touch me! I wanted to show a completely different side of me that only my friends are privy to with the dancing and content.
