Shakes the Rapper blends his unique style of old school Hip-hop with fresh new sounds creating catchy melodies with carefully crafted lyrics reminding listeners of what Rap music is all about…Rhythm & Poetry.
Born in Durban, Shakes started his music career learning a variety of instruments and performing at local gigs.
Over time he developed a love for Hip-hop and RnB music and started pairing this with poignant rap lyrics. Influenced by the likes of Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre & Jay-Z, his music has an old school flavour while incorporating new sounds and fresh beats.

 
Shakes creates and produces all of his own music ensuring that the end product reflects his individual style.
His single Rhymz like Jay-Z was released digitally and has received over 10,000 streams on Spotify in the first few months of release.
 
He has also worked with the accomplished sound and recording engineer Oyama Songo. As a solo artist Shakes the Rapper is signed to the independent South African Label, Shyama Records. Through this label, he hopes to create chart topping Rap and Hip-hop music showcasing the talent that South Africa has to offer.
