Toya Delazy drops explosive new release ‘Resurrection
Following her acclaimed recent releases “Find Di Boy” and “Funani”, pioneering South African by way of east London MC Toya Delazy drops her explosive new release ‘Resurrection” – the first offering from her forthcoming EP Afrorave Vol. 1 out 18th June.
An innovative and impactful crescendo of techno, bassline and African percussions bedded under Toya’s trademark Zulu raps, “Resurrection” displays the breadth scope and direction of her new project as both sonically freer and more exhilarating than ever before – an affirmation of a world coming back to life.
Co-produced by up-and-coming local South African producer Mxshi Mo, Ahadadream and Sam Interface of More Time Records in London, it’s a soul-reaffirming reintroduction to one of the most expressive young artists coming through right now.
Speaking on the track Toya said: “The song is about reclaiming myself, my spirit and roots, and more generally in a post lockdown world, the global rebirth, AKA we’re all going to be party animals.”
Drawing upon her South African heritage as well as the cultural nuance of her London surroundings, Toya Delazy has carved out her own unique sonic lane and aesthetic, thriving in a cacophony of colour, beats and translocated culture.
Already heralded as ‘one to watch’ – 2019 saw her release “Funani” being voted by BOILER ROOM as the “Best Video of The Year” alongside critical acclaim across the likes of THE INDEPENDENT, GAL-DEM, RED BULL and CLASH.

Now with her new body of work on the horizon, Toya’s relentless creativity looks set to continue her trajectory as one of the brightest new talents of 2021.
