Undertone Redefines himself with each new single “Don’t Ask” mixes moody vocals with catchy dance beats.

South African EDM producer Undertone returns with new single, “Don’t Ask.”
Originally conceived as a techno track during April 2025, “Don’t Ask” underwent a creative transformation when the moody, haunting vocal by Sean entered the picture. What was intended to be a fast-paced, bass-heavy production shifted gears into a deeper, more restrained sound that blended better with the vocals’ raw vulnerability.
“As an EDM producer, when I hear vocals, the voice and lyrics don’t always line up emotionally. But Sean’s take? It was an instant yes,” says Undertone.
Technically, the track showcases Undertone’s signature precision: the main synth was crafted using Serum, with automated attack, decay, and release times to produce both stuttering effects and extended, atmospheric notes.
“Don’t Ask” follows a growing body of work from Undertone, including singles like “Don’t Give Up,” “Alive,” “Open Spaces” Kind Of Love – (which has gained international popularity) and Falling, to name a few. Kind Of Love was played on BBC and Club Mambo in Ibiza.
Across each release, Undertone has developed a reputation for emotive builds, clean drops, and poignant narratives. Whether tapping into deep house, melodic trance, or electro-pop influences, he always makes space for emotional honesty within electronic frameworks.
Undertone continues to balance his business career with his passion for EDM production, proving that creative ambition and professional discipline can coexist.
