The Underdogs Of Funk Put Karma On Speed Dial

UK producer Konrad Gordon blends modern R&B, Motown and Funk on new single “Karma on Speed Dial
The Underdogs of Funk return with “Karma on Speed Dial,” the latest release from UK-based bassist, songwriter and producer Konrad Gordon.
Starting with a keyboard theme that sparked the song’s lyrical idea, “Karma on Speed Dial” brings together a modern R&B feel with touches of Motown and Funk, creating a soulful, groove-led track about the intoxicating early stages of a relationship.

For Konrad, the song captures that moment when a new connection feels rare and exciting – full of sparks, vulnerability and possibility – while carrying a simple warning: don’t take something special for granted.
The track continues Konrad’s journey from performing bassist to songwriter and producer. After years of playing in bands across different genres, he began focusing more seriously on creating original music, particularly after the COVID lockdown gave him time to reflect on what mattered most. “I realised just how important music is in my life.”
His musical journey now has an additional South African connection. Konrad’s wife is South African and he first visited the country in 2007. A recent return visit, and his experience of South Africa’s people, community and natural beauty, strengthened his desire to become more involved with the country and its music scene.

“Karma on Speed Dial” follows previous Underdogs of Funk releases including “Don’t Keep Me Waiting,” “Part Ways,” “Gotcha” and “The Message.”
“Karma on Speed Dial” is released 16 October 2026.
