Tim Hendricks Releases full length album ‘After Midnight’ – Celebrating Lifelong Dedication to Music with Honorary Doctorate

Acclaimed South African singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer Tim Hendricks is proud to announce the release of the title track “After Midnight” from his new album After Midnight.
The release coincides with a significant personal milestone. Tim Hendricks was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate (Ph.D.) from Kennedy University (United States – Florida, Paris and St. Lucia) in recognition of his lifelong dedication to music and music education, as well as his successes in the music industry. He is also currently completing his Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) thesis at UCAM in Murcia, Spain, while teaching Cambridge English (TKT) courses, ESL and IELTS qualifications to adults and teenage students daily.

“After Midnight” was written, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered entirely by Tim Hendricks. Working independently, he oversaw every stage of the creative process — from songwriting and production through to the final master — delivering a polished, personal statement that reflects decades of experience.
“It’s a dream come true. Receiving this award recognises the decades, years and hours spent doing something that fills my heart with joy, my mind with creativity and my soul with melody. I am humbled by this honour,” says Tim Hendricks.
About Tim Hendricks
South African singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer Tim Hendricks has been creating original music for more than two decades. Performing since his mid-teens and writing songs from the age of 14, he first gained national attention as a finalist on the television talent show Project Fame. He later advanced in the International Songwriting Competition (from over 15,000 entries), performed at the Red Gorilla Music Festival in Austin, Texas, and built an international profile with performances in Johannesburg, Cape Town, London, Los Angeles, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bangkok, Krabi, Xi’an, Zhengzhou, Jinan, Nanjing, Beijing and beyond.
As the creative force behind the Tim Hendricks Project, he has released a series of independent albums including Shadow of Your Imagination, Contemplating Change (2015), Hopeless Wonder (2018), Yucca Valley, California (2019) — recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Tommy Dietrick (whose credits include Robbie Krieger, Brian Jonestown Massacre and 5 Seconds of Summer) — and Velvetstaircase (2023). His music blends atmospheric guitar-driven rock, heartfelt songwriting and funk-inflected grooves, drawing comparisons to artists such as Jeff Buckley and Tom Petty while remaining deeply personal. A multi-instrumentalist and hands-on producer, Hendricks has also worked as a session musician and collaborator with various South African artists.
Now based in Jinan, Shandong, China, Hendricks teaches Cambridge English (TKT) courses, ESL and IELTS qualifications to adults and teenage students daily while completing his Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) thesis at UCAM in Murcia, Spain, and continuing to write and record. His latest album After Midnight and its title-track single mark another chapter in a lifelong journey recently recognised with an Honorary Doctorate.
